How Geiger Tax & Accounting works with our clients and our affiliated bookkeepers.

The work we do at Geiger Tax & Accounting — bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation for small businesses across Long Island and the country — runs almost entirely inside QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. After 25+ years of practice, we’ve never found a tool better suited to the kinds of multi-entity, multi-file work our clients actually do: contractors, retailers, professional services firms, real-estate operators, families with multiple LLCs.

The historical problem was access. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is a native Windows application. Powerful and fast — but tied to whichever machine it’s installed on. When the practice grew, when clients moved between offices, when the bookkeepers we worked with needed to share a file, the friction added up.

Our solution is Outpost Cloud — the shared QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise environment we built and operate alongside the tax practice. It’s where our clients’ books live. How the relationship works

There are two ways our clients and affiliated bookkeepers end up working inside Outpost Cloud:

If you’re a small business owner

When you become a Geiger Tax client, your books are maintained inside the shared QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise environment. That means consolidated reporting across your entities, the full power of Desktop Enterprise (industry editions, advanced inventory, 200+ built-in reports), and one practice handling your books and your tax under the same roof. The cloud infrastructure is part of how we run the engagement — not something you have to source, configure, or maintain on your own.

If you’re an independent bookkeeper

We work with a network of independent bookkeepers who run their own practices but share the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise environment we built. Two relationship types are available: an Affiliated Bookkeeper arrangement, where you operate full-time inside the shared environment with Geiger Tax serving as the back-office tax resource for your clients; or a lighter-touch Referral Partner relationship.
