Geiger Tax & Accounting (“we,” “us”) is a tax preparation and accounting practice in Amityville, New York. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. This policy covers both our website and our work with clients.
Who we are
Geiger Tax & Accounting is the registered d/b/a (trade name) of CG Management & Consulting Inc, a New York corporation. CG Management & Consulting Inc operates this website (geigertax.com), the geigertax.com email domain, and our text messaging program. Throughout this policy, “we” and “us” mean CG Management & Consulting Inc doing business as Geiger Tax & Accounting.
Information you give us
Depending on how you interact with us, this can include:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number, mailing address
- Inquiry details — what you tell us when you book a consultation, submit a form, call, or text
- Tax and financial information (clients only) — Social Security or taxpayer ID numbers, income and expense records, W-2s, 1099s, prior returns, bank and investment statements, business records, and similar documents needed to prepare your return or maintain your books
You are never required to send sensitive tax documents by email or text. Clients should upload them through our secure TaxDome portal.
Information collected automatically
This website does not run advertising trackers or analytics that profile you, and it does not set marketing cookies. Our web host records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) as a normal part of serving the site. Some third-party services we use may receive limited technical information when their content loads — see the next section.
Third-party services we use
- TaxDome — our secure client portal, where client documents and messages are stored and exchanged
- Google Calendar appointment scheduling — used to book consultations; it collects the name, email, and scheduling details you enter
- Google Fonts — loads the site’s typefaces from Google’s servers, which receives your IP address as part of that request
- Email and telephone providers — used to deliver our email, calls, and text messages
These providers handle information on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own marketing.
How we use your information
- To prepare your tax returns and perform the accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll work you engage us for
- To respond to your questions, whether by phone, email, or text
- To schedule and confirm appointments
- To send you account and deadline information related to your engagement
- To meet our own legal, regulatory, and professional obligations
Tax return information — IRC §7216
Federal law places strict limits on tax return preparers. Under Internal Revenue Code §7216, we may not disclose or use your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your return without your specific, written, informed consent. We do not sell tax return information, and we do not use it for marketing.
When we share information
We share your information only in these situations:
- With your direction or consent — for example, sending a copy of your return to your lender, attorney, or financial advisor when you ask us to
- With taxing authorities — filing your returns with the IRS and state agencies, which is the purpose of the engagement
- With service providers — the providers listed above, who process information on our behalf
- When legally required — in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal obligation
We never sell your information, and we never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How we protect your information
As a tax practice, we are treated as a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and are subject to the FTC Safeguards Rule. We maintain a written information security program and use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect client information — including an encrypted client portal for document exchange, access controls, and limiting access to those who need it to do the work.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Please use the secure portal rather than email for sensitive documents.
How long we keep it
We retain client records for as long as needed to provide our services and to satisfy the legal, regulatory, and professional recordkeeping obligations that apply to tax practitioners — which generally means retaining tax records for a number of years after the engagement. When records are no longer needed, we dispose of them securely.
Text messaging
Text messaging is covered in detail by our SMS Terms of Service, including how consent works, message frequency, message and data rates, and how to opt out by replying STOP.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade mobile numbers under any circumstances.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving text messages
- Ask us to correct or update your contact information at any time
- Request a copy of the records we hold for you, subject to our recordkeeping obligations
- Choose to communicate by phone, email, or portal instead of text
Children
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children except where it appears in a client’s tax return — for example, a dependent’s name and Social Security number — which is protected the same way as the rest of the return.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date below. Material changes affecting how we handle client information will be communicated directly to clients.
